To create a successful ad, you need to understand your audience’s intent, and the media channel, and have strong creative skills. Until 2023, it was nearly impossible for one person to specialize in all areas. The good news is that we live in a time when AI tools allow us to do most of the work from the desktop and operate, well, like a one-man-show agency.
The AI ecosystem is booming, and we see high levels of adoption of this technology. There are dozens to hundreds of AI tools released every month in a variety of domains, providing answers to different needs. That makes the critical process of choosing which AI tool is the right fit for you and your team very challenging. To make sure you are choosing the right tool, you should test, evaluate, and compare the different tools.
In this article, I will share some of my working processes using tools that I carefully selected and aligned with my needs and resources. I will describe in a few simple steps how I am leveraging these tools to operate as a one-man agency. So let’s start…
At Piggy, we try to spread our word using TikTok and Instagram, mostly via SFV (short-form video). To get results I like, I use ChatGPT, CapCut, Colossyan, Piggy, Alison, and Canva.
First, take a look at the final results. Would you believe it if I said it took me less than 2 hours to create this ad, from start to finish?
Here’s how I did it:
- Define an effective TikTok video
- Get a script
- Creatives & design
- Spice it up
- Final Tweaks & edits
Step 1: Define a TikTok video
As a whole, a successful TikTok video should stand out from the feed. This could be through its authenticity, catchy voice, or re-use of trending content. The beginning of the video should be fun and entertaining so users won’t skip it, as we want to attract their attention in a very short time. This research suggests that “…it takes only three seconds for your viewers to decide if they’ll continue to watch or scroll past your video in their social channel’s feed”.
Step 2: Create a video script
To create a video script, I used ChatGPT. Here’s an example of what I requested from ChatGPT:
“Please create a 30-second TikTok sarcastic video script on AI that challenges young people to test an AI quiz maker that tests their knowledge of AI”
Here’s the output.
”Hey, you! Yes, you! Are you bored with mindlessly scrolling through your phone? Well, it’s time to put that brain of yours to work with this AI quiz maker. Oh, come on, don’t tell me you’re afraid of a little challenge. This is the perfect opportunity to prove to your friends that you’re not just a TikTok freak!
Seriously, though, think about it. AI is the future, AI machines also created me, so you don’t want to be left behind. So, make a quiz and share this magical moment with your friends. Good luck! May the force of AI be with you! “
But wait! let’s take a moment to talk about the importance of using a data-driven approach to creative testing and adopting it into your prompt questioning process. In today’s fast-paced digital world, marketers need to harness the power of data and experience to maximize their results. That’s where Alison, a creative analysis platform, comes in. With Alison, you can delve into the nitty-gritty details of your creative elements and uncover what truly resonates with your audience.
By leveraging Alison’s insights, you can fine-tune your prompts and create videos that leave a lasting impression. Gone are the days of guesswork and relying solely on intuition. It’s time to embrace the power of data-driven creative decisions and watch your performance skyrocket.
Step 3: Creative & Design
Now that we have the script, my next step is to take some shoots and record videos. Always try to demonstrate your product so your service and value will be clear to the user.
So how have we done it in this case?
We took a video screen recording of the app that demonstrates real usage of our solution, starting from the prompt to the last page of the creation.
For the editing part, we used the CapCut app, where we chose to run the video 1.5X faster and to add some background music that gives it some TikTok vibes.
One of my favorite tips for videos that demonstrate mobile device experience is using a mobile device frame, which gives the video a more realistic touch.
In that case, using Canva for the editing and adding the mobile frame graphic to the video was perfect. I have added a colorful and eye-catching background as well.
Step 4: Spice it up
We have some videos, we have some nice graphics, but something is missing… We want to grab the viewer’s attention and stand out, so this is the time to spice the video up.
People use TikTok for entertainment. So, to grab the viewers’ attention, we used Colossyan, a great AI avatar platform, which enriches our video with a new actor, and makes it more engaging.
We chose an old man that will encourage them to try this tool, as we tried to be funny, to challenge them, and to make them feel a little FOMOed. To make it happen, we took the script we generated in step 1 and gave it to the generated actor to pitch it like a real human. We add some dramatic music behind to keep the attention of the audience, it always helps :)
Step 5: Final touches
Once everything is ready to deploy, we’ll upload the final file to the TikTok ads manager and add some TikTok layers such as text-to-speech, interactive add-ons, CTAs, and so on.
As you just learned, leveraging AI tools can help you execute tasks that, in the past, you didn’t even know how to get started with, or you could postpone them because they were out of your budget or skill’s scope.
My two cents on AI and the future of work are that AI tools won’t replace you; they are here to work alongside professionals. They will indeed help you overcome challenges, but you will still need to use some creativity and understand this resource thoroughly.
However, it is important to bear in mind that it might take a few iterations until you are happy with the result you generate when working with AI, and of course, this kind of work might not fit every brand and can’t answer 100% of your needs.
